More than 2,000 people participated in last year’s SunnyPride, and this year’s event is destined to attract even more attendees and sponsors. It will be a highly-visible opportunity to showcase talents and enrich the cultural life of the Sunnyside community.
With the rise in legislative, rhetorical, and physical assaults on LGBTQ+ people across the country, we need to stand up in support of our community now more than ever. Sunnyside Pride stands with the transgender community, the Drag Queen Story Hour, the LGBTQ+ people and allies who are under attack. We are coming together to show support for the LGBTQ+ community and to proclaim that Sunnyside is welcoming to all people.
***Fogo Azul*** leads the Pride march through the heart of Sunnyside from the Arch to Lowery Plaza following remarks from elected officials and community leaders. The march concludes with a celebration featuring more performers, food, refreshments, and a Queer Makers Mart.
